Toy Drive Getting Atypical Boost

Even though Christmas is 241 days away, Sparky's Toy Drive is collecting a massive amount of teddy bears, thanks to the Windsor Spitfires and Mopar.

The firefighter-organized drive is usually associated with the Christmas season, but Spits Goalie Mike DiPietro wants their donation to be a reminder that it's in operation all year round.

"A lot of kids and a lot of families do come out to our games and just giving back like this is a little way for us to show our appreciation," says DiPietro.

He and General Manager Warren Rychel helped unload 600 teddy bears at Windsor Fire Station #7 Thursday afternoon.
