$1-Million Goal For Amherstburg's Belle Vue House (VIDEO)

Organizers of a fundraising campaign to restore Amherstburg's historic Belle Vue House have set a goal of $1-million.

The property has twice been designated a national historic site, but has sat empty in recent years. Restoring the property is expected to be a gargantuan task after years of severe neglect.

The Belle Vue House dates back to the War of 1812 and served as a home for veterans who fought during World War One.

Phase one of renovations is already underway inside the home.

The Amherstburg Belle Vue Conservancy has teamed up with the Town of Amherstburg to raise the money, which will be matched by Parks Canada.
