New Kingsville School Space Planned

The template for the new Kingsville K-12 school with the Greater Essex County District School Board is now on its way to the Ministry of Education for approval.

The proposed plans include room for technological studies, a single gym and double gym, computer rooms and arts rooms for both elementary and secondary students.

Trustee Julia Burgess says she is very excited to see the school come to fruition.

"Administration has put a really solid plan together with square footage and how we are going to use that square footage. I think they've responded to the many requests for a really great tech zone at the new school," says Burgess.

The school board still needs to secure a site for the new school.

"The ministry has to approve it before the design can go forward, and then the design gets made, and it comes back to the board again, and we look at it.  The next thing is -- is getting that land," says Burgess.

Funding for the school was approved in May 2016. The board hopes to have the school open by September of 2019.
