Windsor Filmmaker Gets Nod For Ad Featuring Lamborghini

A Windsor native is getting recognition from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for a web ad promoting exhaust systems for supercars.

"These two companies that came together and create these custom exhaust systems for Lamborghinis as well as other exotic cars," says Matt Bendo explaining a little bit of history about his client for the ad, YST and Armytrix.

Matt Bendo is nominated in the category of Best Cinematography.

"The cinematographer is the person that creates the visuals," he says. "The director has the vision, and then the cinematographer is the person that interprets that vision and actually creates the images that you see."

The ad, titled "Storm", is black and white and borrows from spy classics like James Bond.

"We had the chance to play around with this Lamborghini Aventador SV. It was a million dollar custom-made car. It's quite beautiful. Quite powerful," he says.

Bendo also co-directed the one-minute production with Cameron Bryson of Toronto.

Film Loft Productions produced it. The company is owned by Bendo's former professor at the University of Windsor, Tony Lau. The credit for sound design goes to Windsor-born musician Cal Cuffaro.

Bendo graduated from the University of Windsor in 2014 with a Board of Governors Medal and is pursuing his career in Toronto.

The winner of the award will be announced at the society's gala Saturday evening.
