UPDATE: Marsh Fire Closes Point Pelee National Park (VIDEO)

Fire crews have responded to a marsh fire that has broken out on the beach at Point Pelee National Park.

The Leamington fire department reported the blaze on Wednesday around 8pm, and say fire crews were working with Parks Canada to fight the blaze. Firefighters were also working to provide protection for the boardwalk.

Fire officials say the park has been closed as a result of the fire.

As of 5am Thursday, the fire continued to burn.  Leamington fire officials say 125 ha. of marsh land has been lost, but there is no risk to the public.
