UPDATE: Suspect Arrested After Mosque Threat

London police say a suspect is in custody after a threat was allegedly made at a mosque.

The incident took place Sunday afternoon at the London Muslim Mosque on Oxford St W.   Police say a 24-year-old man allegedly threatened to shoot people with a gun inside the mosque but it was later determined that the man was not armed.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the mosque says the man appeared and asked for food.  Afterwards, the man became aggressive and began to make threats against those present.  Staff and volunteers at the mosque have been trained to contact police should a problem occur, and the statement said the protocol was followed.

People inside the building were directed by police to lock the doors.  There were no reports of injuries.  The man was taken into custody without incident around 1:30pm.

Const. Katrina Aarts tells Blackburn News that the suspect did mention that he was Muslim.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with additional information on this incident should call London Police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
