Leamington Expands Green Space Uptown

The Municipality of Leamington is moving forward with the purchase of two uptown properties to improve green space in the area.

Leamington councillors approved the purchase of 38 and 40 Talbot St. W and plan to demolish the current structures. The municipality purchased 38 Talbot St. W for $110,000 and 40 Talbot St. W for $165,000.

Leamington Mayor John Paterson says it will improve Shotten Park and beautify the area.

"These two pieces are a strategic buy on our behalf and we want to open up the pedestrian accessibility of Mill St. and Talbot St. W or the uptown area as a whole," says Paterson.

Paterson says this is just the start of the improvements they have planned for Mill St. this year.

Demolition could begin as soon as the sale of the properties is final.
