UPDATE: Special Weather Statement Issued

Winter is not finished with southwestern Ontario yet.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the following areas:

  • Chatham-Kent - Rondeau Park
  • Windsor - Leamington - Essex County
  • London - Parkhill - Eastern Middlesex County
  • Strathroy - Komoka - Western Middlesex County
  • Rodney - Shedden - Western Elgin County
  • St. Thomas - Aylmer - Eastern Elgin County
A significant winter storm with a low pressure centre is expected to pass over the southern Great Lakes region Monday, and merge with an east coast storm, forecasters say.

Snow is expected to begin falling during the day Monday and intensify Monday night into Tuesday, Environment Canada says.  With the system may come higher winds, resulting in blowing snow and decreased visibility.

Total amounts of 10 to 20 cm (four to eight inches) are possible with this system.  Storm warnings may be issued as the path of the system becomes more clear.  Exact snowfall amounts remain uncertain.
