Library To Collaborate On New Hospital

The Windsor Public Library could be part of a new acute care hospital in south Windsor.

Library board Chair Peter Frise isn't sure what the location could look like just yet, but is excited by the prospect of serving what's expected to be a growing area of the city.

"Libraries are evolving so quickly that by the time the hospital is built, if it is built, things will have changed some more," he explains.

The hospital is still waiting to get to phase two of the project. That's when official design work can begin, and the library can start to have a say in what kind of service it would like to offer at the County Rd. 42 location.

Windsor Regional Hospital CEO David Musyj says the ministry stopped asking questions about the proposal about six months ago, which he sees as a good thing because it could mean that the project is now where they like it.

He's hopeful that an announcement could be made in Ontario's 2017 budget.
