More Room At South Windsor Recreation Complex

The 15,000 sq ft addition at the South Windsor Recreation Facility is already getting a lot of use.

Programs from the former Oakwood Community Centre moved over to the new space starting in the new year.

"It's been a smooth transition to our new facility all of the families from oakwood we now see in our new facility and they're enjoying the expanded space and new programs," says facility supervisor Nikki Leblanc.

Leblanc says being a part of the arena facility has created a nice synergy.

"We have families who come in here for hockey and while one child is playing hockey maybe the other child can do a dance class or the parent can participate in a fitness class, so we're just one complex where people can come and do a variety of things," says Leblanc.

The $4.6-million addition was completed late December. It includes eight new programming rooms a new gymnasium, meeting room, a new front entrance and new parking.
