Kingsville Passes 2017 Budget

Residents in Kingsville will see a 2.4% tax increase on the municipal portion of their property taxes this year.

That equates to around $31.52 on the average home accessed $200,000.

Kingsville Mayor Nelson Santos says after three days of deliberations they were able to cut the proposed 4.6% increase in half.

"In terms of levels of service just continued programming around the arena, parks and recreation, camps and that. So some new ventures that we're getting into but there are no service levels cut," says Nelson.

The 2017 capital budget includes $10.5-million in spending. It includes major road projects like the Park St. reconstruction.

"One of the other good aspects of this year's budget is we're finally putting aside some dollars for life cycle costing to replace existing amenities," says Santos.

The budget includes $500,000 for life cycle funds.
