Public Visitation For Mike Ilitch In Detroit

The Ilitch family is hosting a public visitation to share memories and condolences after Mike Ilitch, the owner of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings, died Friday.

Ilitch, who was 87, also co-founded Little Caesars Pizza.

The first memorial is Monday at 1pm at Comerica Park. Memorial sentiments will be saved and shared with the family.

The second memorial is Wednesday from noon until 8pm at the Fox Theatre.

Additional memorial opportunities are being planned, including at Joe Louis Arena, the Lakeland Complex and at the Little Caesars Arena construction site.

A statement from the Ilitch family reads, "To everyone who has so graciously remembered Mike Ilitch, we extend a heartfelt thank you. The volume of condolences and kind wishes overwhelms us, and we appreciate it more than words can express."

The family will hold a small, private memorial service for close friends and family members in the coming days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ilitch's memory to The Detroit Red Wings Foundation, The Detroit Tigers Foundation and Ilitch Charities.
