Next Step For Paul Martin Building

Plans for the inside of the Paul Martin building in downtown Windsor could soon be ramping up, now that the scaffolding is coming down around it.

University of Windsor President Alan Wildeman wants to see law classes housed there and the city is willing to pay $15-million for renovations, but they're still waiting to hear from the province about a potential $20-million contribution.

"Recognizing the life-cycle of this government, where it is in its mandate, and all of the discussions we've had, I suspect there will be a resolution very soon on it," he says.

Wildeman refuses to give a time line as to when he thinks an announcement could be made, but says discussions have been ongoing for four years and they have now "reached a boiling point."

The Paul Martin building was sold to the City of Windsor back in August of 2015 for $1.

The federal government paid $6-million to restore its facade.
