After a decade on the job, University of Windsor President Alan Wildeman is stepping down.
"You look back on what had been set out to do in 2010, and you start going down the list and saying, 'Wow, a lot's been done. It's great. Maybe somebody else should put the next big vision on the place,'" says Wildeman.
In his annual address at CAW Student Centre this morning, the president says he'll remain on the job until June of 2018.
That way he'll see through the completion of the school's major capital projects downtown and on its west end campus.
Wildeman says he started thinking about stepping down back in the fall.
"You take a moment sometimes and you look at what you set out to do, and in a big institution like this there needs to continue to be renewal," he explains. "I felt like there was a window here where I've been able to get a lot of the things done that we set out to do."
It'll now be up to the university's board of governors to find Wildeman's replacement.
In the meantime, the president says improving student enrollment will remain his main area of focus.
