UPDATE: Chrisjohn Sentenced In Brant St. Manslaughter

Colin Chrisjohn will spend another six years and 199 days in prison for manslaughter in the death of Amir Hayat Malik.

The 26-year-old was originally charged with second degree murder after the 2015 incident on Brant St., but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the fall.

Malik, who was a father of three, and Chrisjohn were said to be friends and hanging out drinking before getting into a fight on June 3, 2015.

Malik was beaten and stabbed 16 times before having his body dragged into an alleyway.

In the judge's ruling, he noted the viciousness of the crime and that Chrisjohn had ditched both his clothes and the weapon he used to kill Malik.

The judge said one mitigating factor was that Chrisjohn was under the influence of alcohol, which he struggles with and has been arrested for multiple assaults while drunk in the past. Another factor was his guilty plea.

Coupled with his 596 days already served, Chrisjohn will spend nine years in jail for the crime.
