Antonino's Looking To Expand

The owner of Antonino's Original Pizza is hoping to expand and build at a new location in South Windsor.

It will be right next door to the current location on Howard Ave. and North Talbot Rd.

Owner Joe Ciaravino says he's long outgrown his current location, and has been unable to reach an agreement with his current landlord to expand.

"We're looking to rezone the property next door and build our own stand alone site, about 2,000 to 2,500 sq ft, and it's going to be really cool with the new trend towards mixed commercial and residential.  We're going to have apartments upstairs," says Ciaravino.

There is currently a house on the property that will need to be demolished for the proposed development.

The rezoning of property was approved by the City of Windsor planning committee, however some voiced concerns over commercial creep in residential areas. But Ciaravino says he is willing to work with the neighbours to make sure the design will blend in with the residential neighbourhood.

"I hope to get the neighbours together and get their input. We definitely want the neighbours to be happy because they're my customers.  I don't want to upset my customers," says Ciaravino.

The rezoning still needs approval from Windsor City Council. If approved the construction could be completed in about a year.
