Sting Down Spitfires In OT

The Windsor Spitfires fell 6-5 in overtime to the Sarnia Sting in OHL action on Friday.

Kevin Spinozzi and Jordan Kyrou both scored in the first period to give Sarnia a 2-0 lead, which Aaron Luchuk cut in half with a goal for Windsor before the second. Spitfire Gabriel Vilardi scored the only goal of the second period to tie the game 2-2.

Vilardi scored his second of the night 7:03 into the third to give Windsor the lead, followed by Julius Nattinen who scored to make made it 4-2 for the Spits. Vilardi scored again with just over five minutes left in regular play time to complete a hat trick. However, Sarnia was able to make a comeback in the last three minutes of the third. Louis Latta had a goal, along with Spinozzi who scored twice to tie the game and complete a hat trick.

Drake Rymsha scored 2:48 into OT to earn Sarnia the win. Both teams had 31 shots on net.

The Sting are back on the ice on Saturday as they head to Owen Sound to face off against the Attack at 7:30pm.  The Spitfires will take on the Saginaw Spirit next on Sunday at 2:05pm.
