Almost a week after its building burned down, the director of the Story Book Early Learning Centre says they have a new location.
The new location, at the Sun Parlour Junior School at 492 County Rd. 8 in Essex, will be open January 23.
Director Donna Hedrick says they lost everything in the fire on January 6, so they're looking for equipment and toy donations for babies and children up to the age of four.
"Starting on Saturday from 9am until 3pm and onwards, every day, seven days a week to take donations at Sun Parlour Junior School," she says.
The non-profit organization is taking monetary donations too. An account has been set up with the Royal Bank.
The daycare has a partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Greater Essex County District School Board. Hedrick had hoped to make the announcement sooner but says it took a few days to sort out the details.
About 100 children attended Story Book full and part-time, and Hedrick hopes to see many of them at the new location.
"We started up a Story Book Early Learning Centre Facebook page and the original phone number, it has been up and running," Hedrick says.
The phone number is 519-776-7772, and the email address is storybookjaf@on.aibn.com. Hedrick says parents who leave a return number and information about their child will hear back from a staff member.
The cause of the fire is listed as undetermined.
