Snow, Rain, Freezing Rain Expected

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex.

The weather agency says snow is expected to develop Monday night in southwestern Ontario and move east.

"We're expecting to see 5-10 cm from this system," says Meteorologist Gerald Cheng. "Also, because of the strong winds that will accompany this system, we also expect to see some local blowing snow this morning. So driving conditions are not ideal."

"There's also a slight risk of freezing rain," says Cheng. "However we're not forecasting it to be a significant freezing rain event. So there's only a slight risk with the system."

Motorists should expect poor driving conditions Tuesday morning.

All school buses in all zones are cancelled for January 10 in Chatham-Kent, Windsor, and Essex County because of poor weather conditions -- that includes Chatham Christian School.
