Kingsville Looking For Input On Kings Landing Development

Renovating the historic Kings Landing in Kingsville will cost more than originally estimated.

The town has received an estimate that it could cost upwards of $1.5-million to renovate the current building, while building new would only cost around $1.3-million.

When the town initially bought the building two years ago estimates to restore the facility were under $1-million.

Mayor Nelson Santos says the municipalities intent has always been to save the building, but they need residents input.

"The town's intent was to keep it and preserve the heritage of the building, but going forward now with this new information, it's going to give an opportunity for the public to either support that initiative, or find another way for the facility," says Santos.

The Parks and Recreation department is planning to hold public meeting to gauge people's interest in the building and what they would like to see done with the space.
