Windsor To Investigate Treacherous Intersections

The City of Windsor will spend $20,000 to study four of its most dangerous intersections for cyclists.

Bike Windsor Essex President Lori Newton is happy to see action being taken, but says there's a lot of work to do.

"There isn't a single solution that would be replicable across the city," she says. "If you look at those four critical intersections, they're all very very different from each other."

The intersections include Lauzon Pkwy. at Tecumseh Rd. E, Windsor Ave. at Tecumseh Rd. E., Drouillard Rd. at Wyandotte St. E and Walker Rd. at Ypres Ave.

Three of those four do not have any cycling infrastructure at all.

Newton would like to see the city at least put some paint down at the dangerous intersections, while a more long-term solution is being worked out.

Engineers are expected to start the study in the spring of 2017, with results presented to city council by the end of the summer.
