The Town of Amherstburg is implementing a ban on all offsite, portable signs in the town.
"That was very, very important to our residents," says Councillor Diane Pouget. "They were very upset about the sign pollution as the entered and exited the town of Amherstburg."
The town implemented the bylaw to reduce clutter and promote public safety by reducing distractions on the road.
"When you have so many signs and you're trying to view each sign it is very distracting. So we want to keep our residents safe and our guests safe," says Pouget.
The bylaw will come into effect as of January 1, 2017. Fines will be put in place for businesses that do not comply with the bylaw.
