After spending time docked in Detroit, the USS Detroit is coming to Windsor.

The ship will dock at Dieppe Gardens Monday.

There will be an official welcoming ceremony at noon, and the public is invited. The Consul General of Canada in Detroit, Douglas George, along with officials from Windsor City Council, HMCS Hunter and the Windsor Port Authority will speak.

"The City of Windsor is honoured to welcome the USS Detroit to Canada," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. "This visit from the USS Detroit and similar events are shining examples of how luck we are to be neighbours, and what is possible when we join forces."

The ship will depart on Friday, October 28 between 8am and 10am.

Windsorites may have already caught sight of the ship. It was docked for a week of events in front of the GM Renaissance Centre on the Detroit side of the Detroit River.
