Driver Injured After Pickup Strikes Mexican Consulate

The Ontario Provincial Police says a driver suffered life-threatening injuries when a pickup slammed into the back of the Mexican Consulate in Leamington.

It happened just before 5:30pm Sunday.

Investigators say a pickup truck was westbound on County Rd. 33 when it left the road, tore through a bean field, and struck the rear wall of the consulate in the 300-block of Hwy. 77.

The driver, who has not been identified, was taken by ambulance to Hotel-Dieu Grace hospital.  No additional information has been provided on the driver's condition.

The driver was alone in the pickup and the consulate was closed at the time of the incident.
