It may seem a little early to be celebrating Canada's birthday, but the Rotary Club of Windsor-St.Clair has a good reason to plan well in advance.
It's received 1,000 commemorative tulip bulbs to plant a 150th Celebration Garden for the country's sesquicentennial next July.
There will only be 150 gardens across the country. The local garden will be planted on the roundabout at Manning Rd. and Riverside Dr. E in Tecumseh. Rotarians and volunteers will plant 500 red and 500 white tulip bulbs. It'll be featured on Canada's Garden Route.
"We feel very fortunate," said President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Windsor-St.Clair, Anna Jurak. "We understand the Canadian Garden Council, the organization behind the 150th Celebration Gardens received more than 400 applications."
"Our garden and 149 gardens planted across the country will be symbolically linked to a flagship 150th Celebration Garden Promenade, consisting of 25,000 tulips," says Jurak.
The public is invited to come out and help plant the bulbs Sunday, October 23 at 2pm at Manning Rd. and Riverside Dr. E in Tecumseh.
