Henry Ford Wants Nurses, Again

Nurses, veterans and new graduates alike, are invited to a job fair at the Caboto Club Thursday.

The Henry Ford Health System has been aggressively recruiting Canadian nurses in Windsor and Sarnia over the past two years. It held its first job fair in Windsor in a decade back in July 2015, quickly followed by a meet and greet event in September 2015. Nurse Administrator Denise Robinson says there's a shortage of American nurses right now and plenty of job openings.

Robinson says they were "almost overwhelmed" by the response from local nurses at the last job fair where 57 nurses were hired. They have close to 100 positions to fill this time.

"It's a fluid number. We're hiring people regularly," she says.

The hospital wants both veterans and new graduates for its Emergency Department, Inpatient General Practice Units, Intensive Care, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Dialysis and Outpatient Clinics.

"For our intensive care units, we are looking for people with experience. And, for the OR and the Emergency Department," says Robinson. "For our general practice units, we definitely hire new grads."

The job fair starts at 8am and finishes at 5pm. Applicants can also apply online at www.henryfordcareers.com and enter 161169 into the "find jobs by keyword" box.
