Police now have a suspect in custody after an 83-year-old woman was stabbed on Ottawa St. near Hall Ave. in Windsor.
The Windsor Police Service says the victim was approached from behind by a man who stabbed her multiple times in the head around 11am, Wednesday. She has been taken to hospital to be treated for serious non-life threatening injuries.
Police released a description of a suspect after the stabbing, and now say they have one person in custody as of 5pm.
Police say a hold and secure was put in place at four elementary schools in Windsor as a precaution following the stabbing. The hold and secure was lifted at Giles Campus, Prince Edward, St. Angela and St. Anne elementary schools around 4:30pm.
