Kingsville Museum Seeks Stability With Funding Request

The Kingsville Historical Park museum is asking the Town of Kingsville for $10,000 a year for the next five years.

The money would provide stable funding for the museum to put towards operational and advertising costs.

Treasurer/Secretary Katherine Gunning says as a major tourist attraction in the town she hopes council see this as a worthwhile investment.

"We have had the support of the town prior but with, I would say, smaller amounts. We have an awful lot that we would like to do and we need this additional money to move forward," says Gunning.

The request was referred to 2017 budget deliberations.

"We will be disappointed if we don't get it from the town because we are a major tourist attraction in the town. Hopefully, they will consider that and we will get the funding," says Gunning.

The Kingsville Historical Park is dedicated to military artifacts and local history. Around 2000 people visit the museum each year. It has only one full-time staff member dedicated to the curation of the exhibits but the museum is mainly operated by volunteers.
