Chief Confident In Integrity of Crime Stoppers Tips

Windsor Police Chief Al Frederick wants to reassure the public that tips going to Crime Stoppers Windsor-Essex are completely uncompromised.

This comes after the former Crime Stoppers board president Jon-Paul Fuller was charged with production and possession of a controlled substance by the OPP. The allegations have not been proven in court.

Chief Frederick says the board of the Windsor-Essex CrimeStoppers is a fundraising body and completely separate from the tips that come through the Crime Stoppers line.

"The board is really a financial fundraising arm of Crime Stoppers and the two police coordinators handle all the tips. The board never sees those tips, never touches them," says Frederick.

The Crime Stoppers Board held an emergency board meeting after the charges were laid and named former president Charlie Hotham as the president of the board.
