UPDATE: Serious Injuries In Hwy. 3 Head-On Crash

One person has been taken to hospital following a serious head-on crash on Hwy. 3 west of Kingsville.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Thursday just around 3:40pm, a white Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling east on Hwy. 3 when it crossed the center line into westbound traffic, and collided Freightliner tractor trailer.

The driver and only occupant of the pickup, a 56-year-old Windsor man, had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 51-year-old Leamington man, was not injured.

Hwy. 3 was closed for several hours between County Rd. 31 and County Rd. 34 while officers conducted an investigation. The roadway was fully reopened around 10pm.

This the second crash on Hwy. 3 in the region in the same day, with the first occurring Thursday morning near Manning Rd.
