Hospice Fundraising Campaign Kicks-off

The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County is hoping to raise $65,000 with its Face to Face campaign this year.

The campaign encourages participants to simply collect $10 from 10 people to donate to the cause.

Campaign Founder John Fairley says it's a simple fundraiser but it works.

"Something like this is not threatening," says Fairley. "You don't go for races, or walkathons or roll-a-thons or eating or another gala or another dinner. It's going up to someone and saying, do you have 10 bucks?"

This is the 14th year of the campaign and they have always raised more than $50,000 annually.

This year the donations will go toward the Hospice transportation program to provide up to 6,500 rides for patients.

"They believe that it costs $10 to pick someone up and give them a ride, whether it's a family member or themselves going to doctors offices or patients stepping out," says Fairley.

The campaign runs until September 30.
