Windsor Police Hearing About Scam Daily

Windsor police are again warning of a scam that uses the Canada Revenue Agency as cover to attack victims in the area.
Police say in most cases residents are contacted through email or text. The scammer claims to be from the CRA, advising the victim is owed a tax refund and simply needs to input credit card information to receive the money.
Windsor police say you don't have to call them unless you fall victim to the fraud and incurred a loss. You can email the Windsor Police Service Financial Crimes Branch at fraud@police.windsor.on.ca.
In the meantime, you can visit the real CRA website for more information on how to protect yourself against fraud.
