The City of Windsor has finally appraised a parcel of land near the airport, and the woman living there can now move.
Rose Tako didn't know how much the city was going to compensate her for her property on County Rd. 42, so she couldn't find another place to live. Now she knows, and has 90 days to vacate.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says there's demand for the land, the last of two final parcels to expropriate for economic development.
"WEEDC [The Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation] continues to work on developing airport lands. There's more interest today now that the hospital has been announced," he says. "We've certainly seen more interest in that."
The city is not releasing how much the land was appraised for.
