Windsor Stars Partner With TFC

The Windsor Stars soccer club is the first satellite club for Toronto FC of Major League Soccer under a new partnership announced today.

The partnership will see TFC coaches coming to Windsor to provide professional technical player and coaching development at the youth level.

President of the Windsor Stars, Vancho Cirovski, is confident local players will see the benefits.

"They've offered their resources in a way that we haven't seen in the past, so it really speaks to the relationship and the trust that they have in our community and its potential," says Cirovski.

While giving credit to other contributors to grassroots development in Windsor, Cirovski says the partnership will give local players the most technical training that's ever been available in the region — and all while giving players a pathway to the professional level while staying in Canada.

"We no longer have to look to the US side," says Cirovski. "We know now that we have an option in this community that points to the Canadian side rather than the US side."

The Windsor Stars, currently playing in League1 Ontario, will be renamed the Windsor TFC Stars as part of the agreement.

Toronto FC, one of five professional Canadian soccer teams, is looking to strengthening its youth system through the partnership by providing a direct path for high potential players aspiring to go pro.
