The latest Manpower Group survey says job seekers in the Windsor area may have better prospects in the third quarter of this year.
The study suggests 19% of employers plan to hire between July and September, 74% expect to maintain current staffing levels, while 4% aren't sure. Just 3% anticipate job cuts.
The city's third quarter net employment outlook is 11%, a 7% increase compared to the second quarter outlook.
"It is also an increase of 1% when compared to the outlook reported during the same time last year," says Nikki Sharpley with Manpower.
Across the country, 16% of companies said they plan to hire more workers and 5% plan to cut back.
Vice-president of Manpower Canada Operations and Strategic Accounts, Darlene Minatel says hiring is typically modest in the third quarter. This time, some external factors make the forecast more optimistic.
"The Canadian dollar's prolonged low has been good news for the manufacturing industry."
Nationwide, the survey suggests the strongest hiring prospects will be in public administration, and manufacturing where the outlook is up 11%.
