Programs to reduce basement flooding in the City of Windsor are working.
In just five years claims of sewer backup have gone from 314 in 2010 to 17 in 2015.
City Engineer Mark Winterton says the city is taking a multi-pronged approach to help solve the issue. "Everything from downspout disconnections, fog testing, CTTV, ongoing flushing and improvements, we have private drain connection replacement program ,"says Winterton . "Council has done a good job of supporting our initiatives on basement flooding." The City of Windsor continues to offer the downspout disconnection program to anyone in the city free of charge.
