The House of Sophrosyne is launching a $3.5-million capital campaign to raise funds to relocate and expand its facilities.
The addictions service provider for women will be moving to the former St. Alexander Elementary School on Adstoll Ave. to expand counselling services.
Lisa Tayfour with the House of Sophrosyne says the new facility will double the current capacity and drastically cut the current wait times of four to six months. "Another great aspect of the new facility will be that mothers will be able to bring their children up to six years of age there and they'll have some family counselling which is really, really important," says Tayfour. The Local Health Integration Network has also committed funds to help rebuild the former school but the organization has to raise a portion of the capital campaign before beginning renovations. "As soon as we get the go-ahead from the government we're going to start revamping the inside of the new facility and prepare to transfer the House of Sophrosyne into the new building," says Tayfour.
