The lowest bid for the construction of the new city hall in Windsor came in nearly $1.5-million under budget.
Oscar Construction presented the lowest bid of $28.5-million among five general contractors who submitted proposals.
Project Administrator Wadah Al-Yassiri says the lower bid means they may be able to add a few items to the project.
"One of them that comes to mind is the green roof feature... another one is we have an expansion in the new city hall that was to be in case we need to expand in the future but it was just going to be finished with bare bones. Now if we have the additional funds we can finish it complete," says Al-Yassiri.
The proposal still needs approval from council before Oscar Construction becomes the official contractor. That should be done by June with construction slated to begin in the early summer.
