Fake Shotgun Prompts Scare At UWindsor

It turned out to be a fake, but for about ten minutes Windsor police thought a man with shotgun was inside the University of Windsor's engineering building.

Reports came in at around 8am Friday about a suspect in a suit roaming around the Centre for Engineering Innovation with what was thought to be a shotgun.

Patrol officers rushed to the scene, notified campus police and the Emergency Service Unit. Police quickly set up a perimeter.

Officers entered the building and began forcing people out when police say they found the man. That's when he told officers the shotgun was a prop.

He told police it was for a scenario at a high school conference in the building.

Windsor police are reminding everyone to follow proper policies when carrying items that may appear like real weapons. By reporting it to the proper officials, it would avoid situations like these, Windsor police Constable Andrew Drouillard tells BlackburnNews.com.
