New Festival in Amherstburg

The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the first Harvest Festival at Fort Malden in place of the Shores of Erie Wine Festival.

The festival aims to highlight regional growers, wine makers, craft breweries, distilleries and entertainers.

Amherstburg Mayor Aldo DiCarlo says when the news came out that the wine festival would be cancelled for a second year in a row he received an over whelming number of calls about creating something new in the town.

"I tried to think of who could pull off such an event and the Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce came to mind and the good people there agreed to take on this monumental task," says DiCarlo.

Vendors and entertainers for the event have not been finalized.

"We are looking to highlight anything and everything that defines our region. It just happens to be in Amherstburg where we know a whole lot of people wanted to go anyway," says DiCarlo.

The festival will be held September 9-11.
