Police Looking For Identity Thief

Windsor police are looking for the public's help to identify a suspect in a case of identity theft.

Police believe the suspect opened accounts at multiple stores using someone else's identity.

The complainant was made aware of the situation when a store called him and advised his order was ready for pick up.

An investigation led the victim to realize accounts were opened in his name at Mappins Jewelry Store, Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy and The Brick. In total over $40,000 was  borrowed with the complainant's identity.

The Financial Crimes Unit obtained surveillance of the suspect and vehicle involved.

The suspect is believed to be responsible for similar offences throughout the province.
