Church Group Coordinates Donation Efforts

A group of Windsor are churches are working together to establish a furniture distribution centre for newcomers to the city.

"The response of the government to the Syrian crisis kind of motivated a spurred a couple dozen church congregations across the city to say, how do we coordinate our response to this?" says Director of the Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative Bob Cameron.

The group will be using the former Science City on Marion Ave. which the City of Windsor has rented to the Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative for $1.

"Our next step really will be to start coordinating volunteers and we're anticipating it will take us probably to the end of February before we can really get it up and running," says Cameron.

The centre will be volunteer run and will be open to anyone in need in the community. Anyone looking to volunteer or donate furniture can contact the group through its website.
