Police Grateful For Help In Animal Abuse Case

The Windsor Police Service is thanking the community and local media for helping in its investigation of a dog found bound by electrical tape near a Canadian Tire in Windsor on December 17.

Police have been told by the Windsor/Essex Humane Society the dog, now named Justice, is recovering well and is expected to make a full recovery. Further treatment is still required, but Justice is said to be in good spirits and eating well.

The animal cruelty case received national attention with the story posted to the Windsor Police Service Facebook page being shared thousands of times.

Police are also thanking the complainant in the case who, along with his own dogs, discovered the bound dog in the 4100-block of Walker Rd. and called 911 around 1pm last Thursday. The humane society was also commended for their work in caring for the dog.

Criminal charges have been laid in the case as 32-year-old Michael Earl Hill of Amherstburg is charged with willfully causing unnecessary pain/suffering or injury to an animal.
