Windsor is saying thank you to its veterans who have served and are currently serving Canada's military.

Grade 8 student at Dougall Public School Alyssa Postma read her poem called 'It Takes A Superhero,' at this morning's ceremony.

She's glad that hundreds of people turned out to Windsor's cenotaph to show support for Canadian veterans and troops overseas.

"But, I think a lot more people could be supporting them," says Postma. "Most people, especially in my grade, just kind of brush it off."

Vietnam Veteran Wayne Hillman saw a lot of faces, young and old, at the ceremony, and hopes to continue to see that mix for years to come.

"It's very important that we educate our young kids on what has happened, and what our troops are currently doing overseas," he explains.

Other Remembrance Day ceremonies were held this morning in the towns of Essex, Leamington, Kingsville, Lakeshore, Cottam and Harrow.
