UPDATE: House Fires Keep Firefighters Busy

Firefighters had a busy day on Saturday after two separate house fires in Windsor.

The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service says the first fire broke out around 4pm at 1444 Norman Rd. The second floor and in attic were heavily engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived.

No one was injured but a cat died in the fire.

Fire officials say the cause is believed to be electrical failure and total damage is estimated at around $250,000. A home next door was also damaged in the fire and sustained around $20,000 in damages.

The second fire started around 5:40pm at 1644 Hickory Rd.

Fire officials say the cause was unattended cooking and damage is pegged at $20,000.

There were no injuries and the homeowner's pets made it out of the home safely.
