The City of Windsor is adding Donnelly St. and Peter St. to the Wyandotte St. W closure between Huron Church Rd. and Indian Rd. as officials are on alert after debris from the Ambassador Bridge was found on the roads below.
Director of Operations Dwayne Dawson tells BlackburnNews.com the city hired an engineer to inspect the underside of the bridge.
"Through his visual inspection he was concerned with the potential for additional debris to fall," says Dawson.
The closures are in effect until further notice.
Dawson says officials with the city and the bridge will be meeting over the issue, but the exact date hasn't been set yet.
"Once our report is complete and their engineer has finished their review we're going to get together," says Dawson, adding city taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook for the debris bill. "We have told them we'll be looking to be reimbursed for the time to put up and take down and detours, do the monitoring and any inspections involved."
Wyandotte St. W was closed on Friday after debris from the Ambassador Bridge had been found to be falling from the bridge.
