Calling For More Public Input On Sex Ed

A group called Let Kids Be Kids is protesting Ontario's new sex ed curriculum in front of the offices of local MPPs today.

Spokesperson John Azzopardi believes most parents weren't aware of Ontario's original sexual education program, and are now outraged about the new curriculum starting in Grade 1.

"Now that it's brought to the forefront, I think people have read it and realized just how graphic it is, and how we realize that we don't want our children being taught the sex ed as part of the curriculum," says Azzopardi.

The group is asking that the new curriculum be held back for one more year, while the government gets more input from parents through a moratorium.

Azzopardi thinks the answer is to completely eliminate sexual education from schools, and have parents take courses in their spare time so that they can properly educate their children.
