Troubled Police Constable Bshouty Resigns

Even though he faced 12 charges under the Police Services Act, the Windsor Police Association says the hearing for Constable David Bshouty won't continue.

Administrator Ed Parent says the association is aware of Bshouty's resignation from the Windsor Police Service. He says that puts a halt to the proceedings. "There's no more jurisdiction over that person, so they won't be able to proceed with any more Police Act charges."

Windsor police chief Al Frederick didn't deny the resignation but declined to comment calling it a personnel issue.

Charges against Bshouty were laid following multiple investigations into his conduct. He still faces a criminal charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking, but charges in Michigan earlier this year for possessing cocaine have been dismissed.

The hearing was to continue in August.
