West Nile Found In Mosquito Pools

Two mosquito pools in Windsor have tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has sent out a notice saying the virus can cause a potentially serious infection to humans.

The first West Nile mosquito pool was found in Essex County on June 24.

The health unit is reminding the public to eliminate any standing water to avoid mosquito breeding.

Officials haven't received reports of any human cases of West Nile Virus.

Last year only one mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile and one human case was confirmed. In 2013, seven pools tested positive, while five human cases of West Nile were reported.
