Money from Windsor Regional Hospital's 'It's In Your Jeans' campaign is going to good use.
The hospital, with the help of Caesars Windsor, raised $130,000.
Chief of Pathology and Lab Medicine David Shum says $100,000 is being used for a new five-headed microscope and video system which helps with cancer diagnosis. "If it's a complicated case, in the past we would have to pass the slide around, and if it (is from) Chatham we'd have to courier the slides here and then pick up the phone. And the phone discussion is never as exact."
Shum says doctors will be able to diagnose cases more accurately, and the new equipment also helps with quality control.
The rest of the fund raising money will go toward other men's health initiatives at Windsor Regional Hospital.
